Who cares?

SINCE THE release of "Ek Chhoti Si Love Story", Manisha Koirala has been in the news for one reason or another. When she took up her maiden production venture "Paisa Vasool" with Sushmita Sen as co-star, the buzz in the industry was that the actress was hardly getting offers. Next, there were rumours about her split with boyfriend Cecile, when the latter failed to turn up at her party in Mumbai. Soon followed the criticism about her role in "Market", a film about sex workers that sank without a trace. Topping the list of controversies is the latest one involving the film "Indira Gandhi_ A tryst with Destiny". Party loyalists have raised objections to Manisha's donning the role of Indira after her questionable performance in "Market". What says Manisha? "I'm amused. Anyway, who cares?" she retorts, although she is not without justifications _ "I'm not desperate about production as I have plenty of offers in my kitty. Cecile and I are going steady, he was missing in the parties, as he was in London. `Market' was a true portrayal of the unfortunate women trapped in a dingy world and so some crudity is obvious, but of course, I purposely put on weight for the role, just as Shabana did for `Mandi'. And as far as taking up Mrs. Gandhi's role, "I'm an actress and varied roles are what true acting is made of."
