PREM KRISHNASWAMY recommends "Mother's Kitchen" in Medavakkam, opposite V.P. Colony for their very homely, tasty and reasonably priced South Indian veg. meals (lunch only). For Rs. 20, they supply sambar, rasam and a vegetable, which is more than sufficient for two persons. Rice is on request and is Rs. 5 extra. Badri Narayanan from Ambattur recommends: Novelty Tea House situated on NSC Bose Road and Mint Street junction, the hub of wholesale business in Park Town (175, Mint Street) which is not to be missed if you are looking for the following authentic North Indian fast food items like tava pulav, pav bhaji, bhel puri etc. Their South Indian dishes like pudina dosai, novelty special dosai (with milagai podi and masala) along with Jain sambar are all time favourites among the local North Indian residents. This is one of the few places in Chennai where you get samosa and masala dosai prepared in Jain style. Their other hits include black currant milk shake and strawberry milk shake.
