From fond daughters

IT WAS a special moment for P. R. Divya from Arupukottai, R.K. Roobiya from Salem and M. Divya from Bhavani. They were the three winners of the Ponnana Edhurgalam contest, organised by Clinic Plus shampoo.

The contest, a celebration of the mother-daughter bond, saw 187 schools from Tamil Nadu participating. The winners were chosen on the basis of an essay, "Why is my mother the best mother in the world," from 60,000 entries.

As for the prizes, P.R. Divya received Rs. 1 lakh as fixed deposit while Roobiya got Rs. 50,000 as fixed deposit. M. Divya was awarded a computer worth Rs. 30,000.

The panel of judges included wildlife activist and writer Zai Whitaker, ad person Latha Menon, attorney-at-law Nirmala Chandrahasan and actress Poongkothai Chandrahasan.
