Different tune
SING A song. Sing it in reverse, sing it in another tune and even go for a remix. It is all about singing the way you wish.
In an innovative concept, MAA TV has two anchors driving along the highways, making halts at different places and croon popular film songs to the tunes chosen by the general public. The two characters, a lorry driver and his assistant, played by Somaraju and Guruswamy, offer a thorough entertainment with hit songs sung differently.
Catch your favourite numbers in different patterns in Reverse Gear which is telecast on MAA on Saturdays at 4.30 p.m.
Adult fare
ALWAYS VIEWED the Telugu channels as a pale imitation of the national networks? But Saturday mid-night programming is one area where Telugu channels have clearly managed to take a lead.
Seeking to shatter taboos, myths and misconceptions, two channels have started beaming programmes on sex education. If MAA has leading sexologist, Dr. Samaram, offering insights into the subject and answering queries from viewers in his Samaram Samayam, Teja has another sexologist Dr. K. Swayam Prakash, donning a similar role in Kama Sutra.
In an interesting move, popular author, Yandamuri Veerendranath, has been roped in to direct Kama Sutra. Apart from a talk and responses to queries from viewers by Dr. Swayam Prakash, the 30-minute capsule also comes with short dramatised efforts to drive home the point. "The AIDS scare is gaining dangerous dimensions and we can no more afford to shy away from sex education," says Dr. Swayam Prakash.
Samaram Samayam telecast at the same time on MAA also makes a bold attempt of ushering in sex education on the telly. But the channel bosses need to take a closer look at Sarasam, which follows this programme at 12.30 a.m. Isn't the language and content of this programme which is based on adult material clips, jokes and songs slightly offensive?
News channel
THE LONG wait for a Telugu channel dedicated to news and current affairs is soon going to be over. The first such effort updating happenings across the State and around the world in Telugu is all set for a launch.
Called `TV 9', the round the clock channel with a news team led by Ravi Prakash, promises professional content right from breaking news to a thorough analysis of events as they unfold. Apart from national and international developments, the channel assures exhaustive coverage from the nook and corner of the State.
