The X'mas spirit

IT'S TIME to deck the halls with bows of holly, break out the mistletoe and spread the Yuletide spirit.

If a visit from Santa seems a little uncertain this year because you haven't been completely Boy-Scout-like, head to Spencer Plaza. Cookie Man has re-created Santa's home in the North Pole, complete with a merry St. Nick handing out Christmas treats till December 26. Children can visit Santa at home and take photographs with him. To add to the mood, Cookie Man is offering star shaped cookies, which can be personalised with messages. With a purchase of gift packs worth Rs. 200 and above, kids can enter a lucky dip and get a surprise from Santa on Christmas Day. For details call 28494538.

At Westside, the store will be overflowing with Christmas spirit till December 28, complete with Christmas carols, pulsating lights, sparkling decoration and all. Take a peek into Santa's grotto while shopping for gifts that range from single candles, priced at Rs. 30, box candles, candle stands, cane lampshades and more. Activities for shoppers include face painting, fortune telling and hair styling. A live band and a magician will keep shoppers entertained while they browse the winter collection of jackets, cardigans and sweatshirts for men, women and children and the glitzy tops and short dresses that are perfect for the season's parties. For details call 28410577.

On December 20 and 21, a dance-drama depicting the history of Christmas will be performed at Madras Christian College Higher Secondary School grounds, Chetpet at 6 p.m. Fireworks, thought-provoking skits, a light and sound show depicting the Nativity scene and a 40-foot high singing human Christmas tree will be the highlights of the show. A 60-foot long Christmas cake will be cut to celebrate the joy of the season. For details contact Jesus Calls Ministries, ph: 24958999.

Meanwhile, Shoppers' Stop promises entertainment, games and competitions at the ongoing 24-day "Santa and the Wishing Well" festival at their store (2 to 8 p.m.). Several incentives for customers are also listed out.
