Metro School Montage

S. Jai Ram, a Std. X pupil of D.A.V. Public School, Butchirajupalem, has bagged the first prize in the painting competitions for high school students organised by the Visakha Consumers' Council(VCC) recently.

The competitions were organised in connection with the national programme on involvement of college and school youth in food safety, food quality and literacy awareness amongst consumers. About 100 students from various schools and colleges participated.

The second and third prize winners in the school category are: M. Asha, a Std. IX pupil of DAV Centenary Public School, Ukkunagaram, and G. Ganesh Reddy, a Std. IX pupil of Sri Krishna Grammar School, old Resapuvanipalem.

In the college category, Grandhi Uttam and Prudhviraj, both from Sri Pratibha Junior College bagged the first and second prizes respectively while the third prize went to D.P. Reddy of S.E. Railway Junior College, Marripalem.

The president of the District Consumer Forum, P. Jagannadham Naidu, gave away the prizes at a prize distribution function held recently.

The VCC president, P. Narasinga Rao, the secretary, P. Rama Rao, and the vice-president, K. Prasada Rao, participated.

The annual day function of the Naval Public School, Nausena Baugh, was held on Thursday. The Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, Vice-Admiral, O.P. Bansal, participated as chief guest. The children presented variety entertainment programmes. The principal, V. Shoba, presented the annual report.

A PEAS Club (Programme for Environmental Awareness in School) was inaugurated at the Jassver English Medium School, Lawson's Bay Colony recently. The school principal, Leonora Mohan, stressed on the importance of sensitising children on the hazards of environmental pollution.

The principal of the AU College of Engineering, Ramakrishna Rao, participated as chief guest. The programme coordinator, Valli Ramgopal, participated.
