IF BOLLYWOOD can plagiarise Hollywood hits, why can't serial makers lift plots and situations from old Hindi films? Some of the popular soaps are clean lifts from yesteryear films. The Rajesh Khanna-Asha Parekh Kati Patang's pale imitation is Aandhi (Zee World), Vinod Khanna-Tanuja Imtihaan, which itself was based on To Sir With Love, has become Jeet (Star Plus) and Koi Dil Mein Hain (Sony) is inspired by the 1970's flick Yeh Raaste Hai Pyar Ke. Surprisingly, the copycats are notching up good TRPs.
