Story of the faithful
Yesu Mahimalu (Telugu)
Cast: Muralimohan, Sivakrishna, Narasimharaju, Sudha, Sivaparvathi, Suneel Singh, Alex
Music: Dr. Maharushi
Dir: Natti Kumar
THE FILM depicts a direct clash between Jesus and satan representing good and evil. And their powers are tested on a devotee of Jesus, Yogu (Muralimohan), and his family members.
Sivakrishna, known for revolutionary roles at one time, plays the role of Jesus, while the burly Suneel Singh is in the role of satan.
The film opens with satan threatening Jesus with problems, which would estrange his devotees from him. The film now veers around Yogu's family and the changing situations.
Yogu and his wife Mary (Sudha) are a happy couple. A long-lost friend Muthiah (Narasimha Raju) turns up at Yogu's house with loads of problems. Good hearted and helpful Yogu promises to help him.
But unfortunately for him, Muthaiah dies without repaying his loans and the money-lenders pounce on Yogu because he had stood guarantee for Muthaiah. With his house at stake now, his children demand their share of property. Finally, penny-less and ill, Yogu and his wife take shelter in a cow shed.
A situation very similar to the time when Virgin Mary gave birth to Jesus.
Though at a stage Mary starts blaming the Lord for all the miseries , Yogu does not lose faith in Him. When satan tries to blame Jesus for all the problems faced by Yogu, Yogu reacts fiercely threatening that he will take his life if he speaks against his Lord. That is when satan realises how faithful this devotee is to Jesus.
The film shows satan apologising to Jesus in the end. Yogu's family has a change of heart and good times begin for them. The film ends with Yogu narrating his life events to the congregation in a church.
There is good response in the auditorium whenever Yogu criticises satan. The songs in the latter part are fine-tuned and sung well. Lyrics are also interesting.
However, the role of Jesus is kept almost inactive. Sivakrishna performs with his natural ease and tuned his diction to suit the role. But the histrionic excellence in the film goes to the credit of Muralimohan and Sudha, both of whom gave a committed performance.
Muralimohan is the strength of the film. Narasimha Raju, Sivaparvati and Raghunatha Reddy are among known names of actors while the rest of the cast comprises newcomers.
