`Andhrawala' arrives

THE FIRST among the Sankranthi releases, NTR's "Andhrawala" hit the screen on New Year's day. The hype about the film is unprecedented not only in Andhra but also in Tamil Nadu and Bollywood! The film made at a cost of Rs. 12 crores has already been sold for a Minimum Guarantee (MG) of Rs. 21 crores! However, what has fascinated Bollywood producers is that "Andhrawala" is releasing with 302 prints, while "Kal Ho Naa Ho" was released all over India with 355 prints! No wonder, the Tatas and Birlas are now producing Telugu films. But the real issue in Andhra is that this Sankranthi will decide who the real superstar is, as Chiranjeevi's "Anji" is also due for release on January 7.
