Debating Peace
IF YOU are a peacenik, hurt with the plummeting reputation of United Nations, as a body meant for maintaining international peace and order, then you have a chance to air your diverse opinions on how to fortify the centre of peace in this world, becoming increasingly unipolar and univocal.
Aligarh Muslim University is organising All India Sir Syed Memorial Debate-2004 on January 30 and 31. Organised by the University Literary Club of AMU, the prestigious debate known to attract best orators from across the country will deliberate on "The United Nations has failed in maintaining international peace and order" in three languages viz. English, Hindi and Urdu. Keeping with traditions of classical debating the host team doesn't compete for team prizes. With prize money worth Rs.3000, 2000 and 1000 up for grabs in each language category, not to talk about the best speaker prize and the stunning shields and of course free board and lodging facilities, the trip is worth putting on the motion this January.
For more details log on to www.cyberamu.com/ulc or e-mail to ulc@cyberamu.com or confirm your entries to Dr. Arif Rizvi, Coordinator, General Education Centre, AMU.
