Encouraging the arts
NOWADAYS WHEN media devotes more space on sensational news, like murder, rape and dacoity, it is reassuring that arts like music are being given due importance in The Hindu. Budding artistes in various fields are a neglected lot and only the famous achievers get written about again and again. The banking industry concentrating on `money transaction' and profit culture is to be congratulated for "Banking on aesthetics" (January 7). Kudos to SBI's Art camp in Hyderabad for encouraging the painters to take greater strides and leaps.
