Sankranthi specials

THE FAILURE of NTR's New Year release "Andhrawala" has created tremors in the Telugu film industry on the eve of Sankranthi. Suddenly, the trade and the audience seem to be veering away from big-budget star movies. Chiranjeevi's "Anji", which took five years to make, will finally be released on January 15. The other biggie is Balakrishna's police story "Lakshmi Narasimha", a remake of the Tamil blockbuster "Saamy", directed by Jayant with Asin playing the female lead. However, the trade is more optimistic about the Sankranthi dark horse, producer M.S.Raju's "Varsham", a love story starring Prabhas and Trisha, and directed by Shobhan. The film, set in Warangal, has music director Devisri Prasad experimenting with the sound of water. The songs are already topping the charts.
