Pongal hopes

HOW LONG will the feel-good factor last in the Tamil film trade after last year's turnaround? The answer lies in the box-office performance of the Pongal releases — "Kovil", "Pudukottayilirundu Saravanan", "Engal Anna", "Jai" and "Virumaandi". If at least two of these films have a good opening, the business will continue to boom. The heroes of all these releases, except Dhanush, are badly in need of a hit to salvage their career. This time, the Pongal releases cater to a vast audience, as there are films in almost all genres — romance, family drama, social and even adventure!
