Still going strong
IT IS amazing the way this ageing hero has retained his fan following and remains in the top slot acting in romantic roles with considerable ease and convincing capability. Vishunvardhan, who is celebrating his 30 years in films this year, has withstood competition and has played a wide variety of roles casting his charismatic spell over a whole generation of Kannada audiences. Basking in the success of his current release, Hrudayavantha, Vishnuvardhan will be playing a super cop after a long gap in Kadamba, directed by Suresh Krishna. Bhanupriya returns to Kannada cinema as his wife. While we have to wait to see his action in Kadamba in a couple of months from now, there were no releases for this Sankranti except for Ramesh Aravind's Bisi Bisi. While Upendra's Gokarna was a flop, Ambarish's Anna Vru fared above average and Sudeep's Swathimuthu did average business. All the three remakes were released on December 26. And the year opened with one more remake, Veera Kannadiga with Puneeth Rajkumar and was a damp squib like its Telugu version, Andhrawala.
