Cell phones and students
MOBILE phones have almost become a part of campus life. Though it is very useful for hostellers, most other students just use it for messaging and fun. Parents might think a mobile phone is essential to reach their kids anytime, but it is up to students to realise the importance of carrying a mobile phone and use it accordingly.

CELL phones in the hands of students are nothing but a drain on parents' hard-earned money.
I have noticed during several college seminars that students, instead of deriving knowledge from sessions, are busy toying with their phones. This ensures the efforts taken by educational institutions go in vain.

CELL phones are a boon, yes. But, they are not necessary for students, for they have merely become an instrument for exchanging gossip. College administrations should, if possible, ban their use inside campuses, or at least restrict their use.

TODAY'S students are cell freaks. Their fingers keep tapping on the keyboard without a clue as to what is happening around them. And, they must remember that phones should not be used to show one's heroism on the road.

MOBILE phones have become a status symbol among students. Certain parents encourage their wards to carry a cell phone even during classes. Seeing this, the have-nots tend to resort to dubious means to acquire one.

A cell phone is a requirement for businessmen, executives in key positions and professionals like doctors, who have to contact others or be contacted during emergencies. Students don't fit into this category at all.

MY students tell me cell phones are not used for constructive purposes by most. One of the `purposes' is to find out which lecturer is taking class to enable them to decide on attending college. A cell phone is a nuisance inside class too.

CELL phones are the current fad. And, instead of using them sensibly, students have become voracious users. It only shows they are ignorant about the value of money.

MOBILE phones and students have almost become inseparable. Some feel mobile phones can be used to express themselves creatively. But, it can be said without doubt that mobile phones eat away into the valuable study time of students.

CELL phones have gone through a big transformation. From being a necessity, they are now used to make fashion statements by students. They hardly realize that flipping the phones while driving is akin to digging their own graves.

WITHOUT doubt, one can say that a cell phone affects students' concentration. It also reflects poorly on their performance and provides them an opportunity to go astray.

INSTEAD of using cell phones for emergencies, most students misuse it. They are so busy sending and receiving messages that they just don't find time to listen to lectures.

THE basic principle of using mobile phones is to be in touch. Many college students work part-time to earn some extra money. When parents need to contact them, a cell phone helps.
