`Masaka' released
`Masaka', a collection of poems of S. Muni Sundaram, was released by the former Rajya Sabha member, Yarlagadda Lakshmi Prasad, here recently.
The head of the A.U. Telugu Department, Atluri Narasimha Rao, a professor in the Geophysics Department, Chandu Subba Rao, the poet, Viriyala Lakshmipathi and the managing director of Hotel Daspalla, M. Raghavendra Rao, attended.
Muni Sundaram, who has retired as a lecturer at the Government Degree College in Chittoor, has written poetry, songs and plays in Telugu. He has so far published 11 poetry collections and 10 plays. He was the founder president of the District Writers' Association, Chittoor, for five years.
His poems reflect his understanding of life, his sense of nationalism and concern for the poor. In one of the poems in `Masaka', he compares a person who does not do his duty to the country with a murderer. While a person who has committed a murder can wash his hands with water, the person who had failed to do his duty would have only tears to wash them.
