* For pure Punjabi food Shashi Kapoor recommends Usha Handa of Khana Punjab Da in Kottur Gardens. Call 24475333 or 35575333 or 5208 7313. For Rs. 30 she gives two chapatis, pulao, dal, subji and salad. She also makes paneer, muli, chana dal, methi and aloo parathas. For home delivery she needs a minimum order of 20 persons.

* For all types of appalam, vadam, vattal, pickles, masala powders and pure south Indian veg food for one to 200 people contact M Balasubramaniam of Om Sri Sai Ram Appalam in Perungalathur at 22392756. Can home deliver in any area. He can also supply chapatis and breakfast.

* For raw Iranian veg and non-veg samosas call Nishrin Madraswala of Parrys at 30904713. The samosas are made with atta and maida. The veg variety has dal and spring onions stuffing while the non-veg has keema (or keema and dal if requested) and spring onions. The samosas are supplied raw and can be fried at your convenience. She also takes orders for chapatis, phulkas, kulchas and rotis (minimum 1 kg). No home deliver and requires 24 hours notice.

* Gopala Ratnam recommends a new fruit shop in Shanthi Colony, Anna Nagar that sells a variety of imported fruits like Australian golden apples, American red apples, Kiwi fruit from New Zealand, seedless pomegranates etc. Tel: 52172638.

* R. Revathy from West Mambalam can home deliver (West Mambalam only) south Indian veg meals for bachelors, working women and school students for 1 to 10 persons. She can reach breakfast before 8.30 a.m. and can even supply a few North Indian dishes. Tel: 24852680. Revathy also conducts classes in South Indian and a few North Indian dishes.

* S. Shanmugapriyan recommends Sri Bombay Halwa House (near P. OOR & Sons) in Mount Road for excellent chapatis. They give three subjis along with chapattis. One can have a filling meal for Rs. 20. They also have excellent jalebis, samosas (non-spicy), hot milk and other sweets.

* Tara recommends R. Raja of Valasaravakkam for sambar podi, rasam podi and idli mulga podi at reasonable rates. He also undertakes party orders for a minimum of 10 persons. Tel: 98412-39923.

* Renuka from Raghavan Colony, West Mambalam can supply pure south Indian veg lunch and dinner for one to 10 persons with home delivery in West Mambalam, Ashok Nagar and Saidapet. Tel: 24711592.

* Nicky recommends Ayesha Sidiqa from Ekkaduthangal for vegetable biriyani, mutton /chicken biriyani with brinjal chutney and raita and desserts like carrot halwa, bread halwa, gulab jamun, rice kheer, badam kheer etc. Her other specialties are tandoori chicken, pepper chicken, methi chicken, masala chicken, mutton or chicken cutlets etc. The rates are reasonable with free home delivery for a minimum order of 10 persons. * Gaytthri recommends Mangalam Catering Services for excellent south Indian veg meals for functions. They can provide for 25 to 500 persons with 24 hours notice. They also cater to corporates for 10 to 50 persons in and around Anna Nagar, Shenoy Nagar, Kilpauk, Kellys etc.Tel: 24355944.

* Radha from Tambaram takes orders for chapatis with subji and south Indian veg meals for a minimum of five persons. Home delivery in and around Tambaram. Tel: 25012814.

* Vijay Kumar Modi from R.A. Puram takes orders for urad dal kachori with subji. Three kachoris with subji costs Rs. 15 and the minimum order for home delivery is Rs. 150. Home delivery in Mylapore, R.A. Puram and Alwarpet. Tel: 24342314 or 94440-38492.
