Murder most unpredictable

MURDER MYSTERY in cool tea estate clime. The picture is complete with a sato-Savitri second wife, a dashing middle aged Suresh Gopi, out to start life once again, and probable villains popping up from all corners. Ambadi Pictures `Sasneham Sumitra' is notable for the fact that the name that forms part of the movie, Sumitra, is never shown till the end. We are told by the characters that if beauty has a simile, that is Sumitra, that she was either killed or committed suicide. The suspense is kept up till the end.

The unravelling of the murder mystery by director Krishnan Ambadi is in off beat mode. The possibilities accumulate, one by one, in possible and impossible terms, until the climax is unfurled from yet another angle.

Music is by Ouseppan and lyrics by Shibu Chakravarthy. Gayathri, Asha G. Menon sing. Saloo George cranks camera. The scenic locales come out quite well. Suresh Gopi does the lead role in predictable style. The new female lead is a cross between Urvashi and Sukanya in resemblance. Sai Kumar and Siddique life the movie with their effortless acting. Sai Kumar has shown that he does have it in him, and lineage cannot be wished away.

Kalasala Babu, often seen on the small screen and son of kathakali maestro Kalamandalam Krishnan Nair, has played role of a dark horse well. His expressive face has contributed in no small measure to make his role a success.

Bindu Panikkar, the actress who can don any role, has made her presence very much felt.
