Re: She-talk
SHE-talk (Metroplus issue dated January 26) reveals the extent to which the unjust acts of some men have affected women. Mina Swaminathan has defined dowry as money paid to buy a man and Kanimozhi has made similar remarks about men.
Those responsible for making them talk in that manner should hang their heads in shame.
But, the wholesale condemnation of anyone - man or woman - is wrong because good and bad elements exist in both sexes. It is common knowledge that the person responsible for demanding dowry and torturing the daughter-in-law is , in most cases, the mother-in-law. Happily wedded couples, who have celebrated their silver or golden jubilee, are many. Man and woman are made for each other.
The English word `WOMAN' has a `MAN' in it and the word `SHE' has a `HE' in it. With mutual understanding and adoption of a give and take policy, men and women can make life worth living.
