Students of Nalanda Talent School presenting 'Usha Parinayam'
The annual day function of Ramnath Secondary School, NSTL Complex, was held recently. The NSTL Director, S. Mohapatra, participated as chief guest.
The tiny tots of the school presented the `Barbie' dance, which won the appreciation of the audience. The children also enthralled the audience with the folk item `Lal chunariya' and the mythological Hindi skit `Raja Bali'.
Mrs. Preetilata Mohapatra, gave away awards to children who had excelled in their academics.
The Principal, C.V. Narasimham, presented the annual report.

Senior IPS officer and Deputy Commandant of the Gaandhar Power Project (Gujarat), Shanti Jayadev, was felicitated by the president of the Aditya Upper Primary School, Mattapalli Chalamayya, at a function organised in the school recently.
Addressing the students, Shanti said that students should adapt themselves to the changes taking place in the field of education. She felt that a person could experience satisfaction only through his/her devotion to duty.

Shanti felicitated the noted freedom fighter, M. Vijayalakshmi, in recognition of her service to society. Social woker, D. Rami Reddy, distributed notebooks to 200 children free of cost. The school secretary, V.S.R. Murthy, was present.

The 6th anniversary of Nalanda Talent School was celebrated at the Diamond Jubilee Port Stadium recently. The Police Commissioner, B. Prasada Rao, who participated as chief guest, commended the various programmes of NTS, which fostered the all round development of children.
The noted environmentalist, T. Shivaji Rao, spoke about the measures to be taken to keep the environment clean. The students of L.K.G. to Std. X presented a variety of dances.

The 55th Republic Day celebrations were held at the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya at Kommadi. The VUDA Vice-Chairman, Dasari Srinivasulu, hoisted the National Flag and was given a Guard of Honour by the NCC cadets and students of the school.
Later, addressing the students, Mr. Srinivasulu, reminded the students of their responsibility towards the country as future citizens.
The school principal, C. Prabhakara Reddy, spoke.

The students of Pollocks School participated in the Republic Day celebrations held at the Police Grounds. The dance sequence "Heart beats of our country" with a salute to our Motherland. They also presented the traditional dances of Maharashtra and Gujarat and the folk tradition of AP, `Kolatam'.
The District Collector, Sunil Sharma, who was the chief guest, gave away a memento to the students. The Police Commissioner, B. Prasada Rao, and the District Education Officer, K.L.N. Varma, were present.

Madhuri Bhavana, a Std. IV pupil of De Paul School, Ukkunagaram, bagged the `Bala Kala Ratna' title at the 7th Pratima All India Youth and Child Art Exhibition 2003 conducted by the Pratima Art Exhibition Society in Guntur recently.
She has also bagged a gold medal at the All India Children Art Competition organised by the Korasala's Wonder Art Village, Amalapuram.

An exhibition of stamps, coins, currency notes, painting and photography - DAV PHONUMI PAIPEX 2004 - was held at the DAV Public School, Butchirajupalem, recently. Six schools from the city participated in the exhibition, which was organised by DAV in association with the Numismatics and Philatelic Society of Visakhapatnam.
The Assistant Superintendent of Posts, V.V. Rama Sarma, conducted a quiz competition and workshop on philately. The children displayed ancient and rare coins, stamps and first day covers in 20 rooms at the school.
The students who won prizes in the exhibition are: C.S. Swathi Bhat, T. Bindu Madhavi, B. Bharati, K.V. Krishna Veni, S. Pavan Kumar, P. Vamsi and D. Kishore. The society vice-president, Mohan, and the secretary, U. Veereswara Rao, gave away the awards. The school principal, C.V. Shankar, and the principal of the DAV School, Sujathanagar, Ramaa Shankar, gave away certificates to the participants.

A science exhibition was jointly organised by the Ramakrishna Residential Public School and Sri Ramakrishna Public School recently. Over 180 projects were displayed at the exhibition.
The District Education Officer, K.L.N. Varma, participated as chief guest. The principal, P.N. Sarma, and the director, A. Sivaramakrishna Reddy, spoke.

A Talent Fest 04 with eco-awareness as the central theme was conducted by Teeny Boppers, a play school and day care centre, in association with `Children's Plan' from HDFC Standard Life Insurance, recently.
The following are the names of the winners of various events (first, second and third respectively) : Fancy dress (2 to 4 years) - Mini, Nitya and Rohan Singh(Teeny Boppers). Painting - Gupta (Timany pre-school), Ujwala and Rohit Pothula (SSR Vidya Mandir) in the 4 to 5 years category and B. Raja and Malka Reuben (Bethany School) and Tavishi Gupta (Timpany) in the 5 - 7 years category.
Collage - Shreya Ojha (Naval Public School), Sai Kehshav Kolluru (Siva Sivani Public School) and Rukaiya Tdri (Bethany School) in the 7 - 9 age group and Roshini Rajendra (Siva Sivani), Aishani Gupta (Timpany) and Saurav Bangar (Bethany).
K. Sanchayeeta (Class IX) and J.S. Vashist (Class VI) of D.A.V. Centenary Public School bagged gold medals at the National Level Art Competition conducted by `Art Village', Amalapuram. M. Asha (Class IX) and Neha Rai (Class V) secured the second prize. The students were trained by art teachers, V.S.N. Banerji and G.R. Srihari. The principal, N. Sobhanadri, congratulated the winners.

The students of Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan School, Salagramapuram, presented a dance recital in the District Cultural Academy celebrations at the Gurajada Kalakshetram. The dance started with a devotional from Kerala, passed on to Kashmir's spring dance, followed by Dhandia of Gujarat, Andhra folk and Punjabi Bhangra. At the end all the artistes paid tributes to Bharat Mata.
The students and staff paid tributes to the Father of the Nation on his death anniversary on January 30. They observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect for Mahatma Gandhi. The principal, Sudha Mohan, lit a lamp. The students took a pledge to follow the lofty ideals of Gandhiji and to work and dedicate themselves to the cause of the nation.
