All eyes on... lehengas
PITAMBARI, A popular brand synonymous with saris and lehengas, recently unveiled its latest bridal collection in New Delhi. The collection was an amalgam of modernity and traditionalism.
Sariss - embedded with resham thread and delicate aari work - were embellished with stones. Modern blouses in brocade and crochet jelled with the saris.
The lehengas were emblazoned with a mixture of bright and semi-bright colours. The embroidery work was light. Shades of red, yellow and pinks dominated. The work involved gota patti, reshamwork, zardozi with stone work, brocades and sequences.
Started with the altruistic cause to help Bangladeshi women earn an honourable livelihood, today it boasts of six studios in Kolkata, Delhi and Hyderabad. It has succeeded in showcasing our rich indigenous works like Bandhini, Jamawar and Lucknowi. This is mainly due to the fact that it has the advantage of in-house facilities, where dyeing, stitching and printing are done.
