On a roll

SRIKANTH IS on a roll as all his three releases last year made money for their producers and he was able to establish himself as a saleable star. Now his new release, "Varnajalam", has created a buzz in the trade, as he is doing a role with negative shades for the first time. Said Srikanth: "I play a signboard artist with shades of grey. But today, Tamil cinema is character-driven and I am sure that the audience will accept me in this "different" role". "Varnajalam" has Sada and Kutty Radhika in the female lead and the music of Vidyasagar is said to be a highlight. The film is directed by debutant Nakulan Ponnusamy.
