Inspired by history

TODAY, REHWA'S "The Fort Collection" and a pre-summer collection by four designers — Ravage Classic, Omesha, Sirali and Harish Garg, will be unveiled at Collage@7W, Wallace Garden.

Rehwa, a non profit society, brings you a collection of textiles — weaves, prints and natural dyes — inspired by the Ahilya Fort, Maheshwar's famous landmark, on the banks of the Narmada. The myriad moods of the river and the subtle shades of the fort (browns, greys and brick reds) find expression in the collection comprising saris, dupattas and fabrics, which will be on display till February 14, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.

As Chennai-ites have already begun to feel the heat of summer, it's only natural that the designers have come up with a collection, which has predominantly used cotton and linen with light embellishments.

A team of three designers, Raj, Neetu and Roopa, has used white, tan and earthy tones in their Ravage Classic line. Suede trimmings lend a trendy touch to the outfits.

Shefali Somani of Delhi has revived the intricate Parsi embroidery in her collection Omesha, which has a medley of birds and flowers for motifs. The suede bags that come with this line are a fine fashion accessory.

Gunjan Arora and Rahul Jain have used three-dimensional embroidery and light sequins to embellish their line Sirali. Here the styling is classic and the fabric, natural.

Patchwork on cotton shirts and sequinned trousers form Harish Garg's range are also available. For details call 28334955 or 28273396.
