Classic in a savvy avatar
THIS SEEMS to be the season for resurrecting classics in a savvy avatar. We have seen it happen with traditional jewellery and crafts. Bangalore-based Kalpa Corporate Artz has gone a step further. It has come up with a new idea called fine art gifting in the corporate world.
The company has now acquired exclusive rights from the Jaganmohan Palace, Mysore, to reproduce Raja Ravi Varma's paintings on canvas. It has already executed an order for the reproduction of his famed painting, Galaxy of Musicians, for one of their clients. The other paintings for which they have already acquired exclusive reproduction rights include Swan Messenger, Lady in Moonlight, Malabar Lady, and Sakuntala Patralekhana.
The company has also tied up with the Karnataka Chitrakala Parishath to reproduce their entire range of leather puppets and Mysore-style paintings on silk and canvas. Other acknowledged painters who are aart be of the initiative include Nicholas Roerich, Svetoslav Roerich, S.M. Pandit, and S.L. Haldenkar.
Dinesh Magar, the director of Kalpa Corporate Artz, says: "By producing museum-quality reproductions, we aim to make art accessible to all."
