Rediscover the beauty in you

They believe in the old adage, " Do not judge a book by its cover" and employ the same in the case of beauty. "Beauty is not confined to the external appearance of a person but it comprises many factors like hidden talents, body language, communication skills and vocabulary power," say the Padma duo who are part of the city's beauty industry.

N. Padma and M.L Padma are women with a mission. While the first manufactures cosmetics in her modest home with the help of natural herbs and daily use items like, turmeric, sandalwood paste, kesar, cucumber and lemon, the other is a trained beautician and runs Valari's Personal Care beauty clinic in Kirlampudi Layout.

N. Padma, who started Charivi Ayurvedic Traditional Treasures two years ago with two products, today boasts of a range of over 10. She has converted one room of her three-bedroom apartment as the manufacturing unit and has given employment to three women and a man.

On her products, she says, "These are all based on the age-old grandmother's tips. And, believe it or not, they still stand the best when compared to the present chemically laced ones."

Her products range from hair oils to facial packs and from winter care lotions to sun tan creams. Every product is neatly bottled and labeled, giving the finesse on par with any other cosmetic from big corporate houses.

The duo organised a three-day camp that concluded on Sunday to showcase their products and to encourage young men and women to shed their inhibitions and recognise their hidden talent to create a world of their own.

"Beauty is only skin deep. The actual beauty lies in the inner-self. One has to recognise it timely and nurture it," says M.L. Padma.

Apart from giving a pep talk on this subject, they lent a number of beauty and personal care tips to both men and women.
