Avoiding the limelight

THE ELECTION Commission's decision not to allow political parties to campaign in the electronic media has disheartened many actors nurturing political dreams. The political parties all over India had been signing up these wannabe politicians for promotional purposes on TV channels. However in Tamil Nadu, most film stars are avoiding being seen on these channels, as they don't want to be identified with any party. Those who did it in the past are also now trying to keep a low profile. A leading star even refused to endorse his film for a television channel fearing that he may be identified with the channel's political ideology.
