Scuffle time

ELECTION TIME and dissidence are quite inseparable. Every time there is an election, the sight of those left aside by political parties voicing their dissent and shifting allegiance is a common thing.

But what took every one by surprise this time was the vociferous show of dissidence by members of Telugu Desam Party (TDP), where the cadre is said to be very disciplined. Not known for such an open show of dissent, party leaders were stunned when rival groups began flocking to the party headquarters raising slogans and even trading blows in the last few days.

A former Minister had already resigned from the party on being refused the party ticket while show of strength by some others including recent Cabinet ministers is continuing at the party office. Such actions are sure to scar the disciplined image that the party always sought to project.
