Penguin to publish Waugh

PENGUIN GROUP will be publishing former Australian Test cricket captain Stephen Waugh's autobiography. In a global deal, the group will be Waugh's exclusive worldwide publisher. The book is scheduled for international release in 2005.

Steve Waugh says it's a wonderful opportunity for him. " I have always enjoyed writing and this book will be an exciting challenge. I am looking forward to working with Penguin to deliver a book that not only appeals to cricket lovers but the world at large," he says.

Immensely popular with cricketing fans in India, Steve Waugh is also well known for his involvement with charity work, especially for disadvantaged children in this country. He has worked closely with a charitable organisation called Udayan near Kolkata, which is home to some 300 children from families struck by leprosy.
