Double vision

THE GROWING city of Mangalore will have its first multiplex in a year. Adlabs Films, Mumbai, and local firm Cineplex have come forward to promote a multiplex for which the foundation stone was laid recently.

Work on the construction of the multiplex is under progress at Bejai near the KSRTC bus stand, and is expected to be completed in a year.

Amid a farrago of private television channels and the availability of 24-hour infotainment, the promoters are confident that the multiplex will succeed in attracting audiences, pointing out that the trend in big cities is towards multiplexes.

Mangalore will be the second city in Karnataka to get a multiplex after Bangalore in Karnataka.

The proposed multiplex will have three separate theatres covering 35,000 sq.ft. for simultaneous screening of films. Together, these three air-conditioned theatres, equipped with the latest digital sound system, will have a seating capacity of 1,000.

The multiplex will have a shopping area and office space of 35,000 sq. ft. each. The complex will house a hotel in a 30,000 sq. ft. area, besides an exhibition hall and kids' entertainment corner.

The parking zone can accommodate 300 cars. There will be round-the-clock power back-up facility.

This mega entertainment-commercial complex will be yet another new experience for Mangaloreans.

With a number of professional educational institutions, industries and hospitals located here, peopled with those dying to take a break, the promoters of the multiplex are getting ready to draw the crowds.
