HOW WEALTHY ARE THEY?

It is difficult to peep into the personal details of politicians, in the normal course. Thanks to the Election Commission diktat, following the Supreme Court's pronouncement that politicians seeking election to the Lok Sabha and the Assembly are forced to divulge their assets and criminal record, if any. Reproduced below are the property details of the major contestants from this Metro, as declared before their respective Returning Officers.

Nedurumalli Janardhana Reddy (Congress nominee for Visakhapatnam Parliamentary constituency)


Deposits in banks in his name: Rs.10,91,135. In the name of his spouse, N. Rajayalakshmi: Rs.5,12,050. Jewellery in her possession: 955.7 grams of gold ornaments. Agricultural land in his name: 25 acres in his native village, Vakadu, valued at Rs.15,00,000. In his wife's name: 7.88 acres at Vakadu and 22 acres in Kadivedu valued at Rs.4,47,800 and Rs.11,36,00 respectively. Immovable properties like house and apartments: Mr. Reddy has got a house at Vakadu valued at Rs.4,04,646 and a site at Yousufguda in Ranga Reddy district, valued at Rs.30 lakhs. An apartment in Nampally, a plot in Vakadu and a residential house in Nellore in his wife's name valued at Rs.14 lakhs; Rs.3 lakhs and Rs.11 lakhs.

M.V.V.S. Murthi (Telugu Desam candidate for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency)


Dr. Murthi has a cash balance of Rs.2.28,000 in his name and Rs.47,390 in the name of his wife, M. Savithri Devi. Deposits in various banks in his name totalling Rs.47,14,206 and Rs.53,108 in the name of his spouse. Deposits in various financial institutions and non-banking financial institutions totalling Rs.6,34,35,750. He has invested in shares and debentures that are valued at the present market rate at Rs.1,26,65,610. His other investments are worth Rs.2,13,035. He has jewellery worth Rs.18,565 and his wife Rs.13,86,441. He owns an Ambassador car and a Ford valued at Rs.50,000 and Rs.13,15,513 respectively. Immovable properties in his name: non-agricultural land in Rajahmundry (Rs.4,97,770) and Yousufguda (Rs.9,00,000) and a house in Moolapolam valued at Rs.2,00,000. In the name of his spouse: non-agricultural land in West Godavari District (Rs.12,63,750) and a house in Siripuram, Visakhapatnam, valued at Rs.40 lakhs. He owns agricultural lands in Moolapolam, Pottilanka and Rushikonda valued at Rs.51,95,500 and a piece of land valued at Rs.1,86,000 in Moolapolam is in his wife's name. He has availed himself of loans from various financial institutions and banks to the tune of Rs.44,993.

Bharanikana Rama Rao (Independent candidate for Visakhapatnam Lok Sabha constituency)


His cash deposits amount to Rs.85,000 in his name and Rs.45,000 in the name of his spouse. Bank deposits Rs.1,31,546 (in his account) and Rs.10,156 (wife). He has invested Rs.8,99,000 in his name in various shares, bonds and debentures and Rs.4,50,600 in the name of his wife. Other assets in his name are valued at Rs.36,800 while the figure is Rs.9,94,000 in his wife's account. He owns non-agricultural lands in Batajangalapalem, Madhavadhara and Muralinagar valued at Rs.47,60,000, apart from a house in Muralinagar with a market value of Rs.12 lakhs. He and his wife own poultry sheds valued at Rs.13 lakhs in Batajangalapalem.

Dronamraju Satyanarayana (Congress candidate for Visakha-I Assembly seat)


He owns a house at Kirlampudi layout valued at Rs.30 lakhs and has agricultural lands worth Rs.3 lakhs. He has a cash balance of Rs,33,266 and has availed himself of a loan to the tune of Rs.5 lakhs from Bank of Baroda. As for immoveable properties and jewellery, he owns a Toyota Qualis and 20 tolas of gold, which is valued at Rs.1 lakh.

Kambampati Haribabu (BJP candidate for Visakha-I)


The affidavit filed by him does not disclose much except the loans he has taken from various banks and financial institutions to the tune of Rs.10,66,216.

S. Ranga Raju (Congress candidate for Visakha -II)


He has a cash balance of Rs.50,000 and Rs.20,000 in his and his wife's name respectively. He also has deposits to the tune of Rs.4 lakhs in various banks and financial institutions. He owns an Ambassador, a van, a Hyundai Accent, a Maxi Jeep and a Ford with a combined value of Rs.19.80 lakhs. He also owns jewellery worth Rs.1.6 lakhs and an agricultural land near Anandapuram, valued at Rs.6 lakhs. His immoveable properties are a commercial complex valued at Rs.68,81,500 and a flat worth Rs.12,00,000. He has taken loans to the tune of Rs.59 lakhs.

Palla Simhachalam (TDP candidate for Visakha-II)

He has a cash balance of Rs.2.5 lakhs, bank deposits of Rs.80,000 and deposits in NBFC's and other financial institutions to the tune of Rs.1.5 lakhs in his name along with his spouse. He and his wife also own jewellery worth Rs.6, 82,500.An agricultural land worth Rs.45,00,000 is in the name of his wife. And he and his wife own two non-agricultural sites near Gajuwaka, which have a combined value of Rs.22.5 lakhs. The couple also own two commercial complexes in Gajuwaka that are valued at Rs.1.5 crore in addition to an apartment, which is valued at Rs.8 lakhs. A loan to the tune of Rs.14 lakhs is outstanding from him.


G. Nagamani (TDP candidate for Pendurthi)


She has Rs.50,000 cash on hand and Rs.23.53 lakhs in banks. She has also invested in various bonds and mutual fund schemes. Along with her son and daughter, she owns agricultural lands worth Rs.6,03,625 and non-agricultural lands valued at Rs.19,60,800. Apart from jewellery worth Rs.2,25,000, the mother, daughter and son jointly own two residential buildings in MVP Colony and a flat in Siripuram, totally valued at Rs.30 lakhs. Loans to the tune of Rs.18 lakhs from banks, LIC and other NBFCs are on her liability side.

Tippala Gurumurthy Reddy (Congress candidate for Pendurthi)


His affidavit shows a combined cash and bank balance of Rs.5,01,000 and jewellery worth Rs.7,38,000. His agricultural lands and non-agricultural lands are valued at Rs.3 lakhs and Rs.25 lakhs respectively. He has a building worth Rs.50 lakhs. He owns a car, valued at Rs.1 lakh.
