Of pizzas and punctuality

SET YOUR watches to Domino's time, because if your Pizza doesn't reach you within 30 minutes of your ordering it, then you get to have it for free. The decision to go the extra mile came in the wake of Domino's Worldwide rating India as among the top two markets in quality of operations out of its 7,096 outlets in 54 countries.

Arvind Nair, CEO of Domino's Pizza India Limited, believes that introducing such an offer within eight years of its presence in the country is an accomplishment, given that the delivery market is still in the nascent stages in India. According to Nair, an "unconditional commitment" of this kind will go a long way in "empowering the customer" and effectively supervising quality. He is confident that the growing number of players in the market will not affect the status Domino's enjoys in India, and with the launch of this offer the positioning is even stronger than before.

Domino's is known to have moulded itself to excel in the business of home deliveries, using a special oven that takes six minutes to prepare a pizza as opposed to the nine-and-a-half minutes taken by a normal pizza oven. Even before this offer, every minute from the moment a customer calls in, to the time of making the pizza, to the loading and finally the travelling is measured precisely to ensure that the pizza reaches the customer "hot-n-fresh". The idea is to enhance the services provided to the customer. The scheme is already popular and successful across the world. Nair is confident that local factors like traffic and roads, which have all been taken into account, are not going to have any effect.
