Forget the calories!
Chef Neeraj Tyagi, Executive Chef Manisha Bhasin and Sous Chef Sharad Dewan.
TRADITION, IT seems, often beats modernity at its own game. We might be avoiding fat now after seeing our belly interfere in tying our shoe laces, but cuisines like the Mediterranean one, have always shunned that. The Marriott hotel probably realising that has come up with the Sunday Brunch offer, which also provides an opportunity to catch some robust flavours uncomplicated by sauces or dollops of cream, every Sunday till the end of June.
Luckily that is not all that The Baywatch restaurant at The WelcomHotel has to offer. Also available are the not so parsimonious offerings of the Mediterranean apart from the traditionally rich Indian platter. So you might choose to relish the crepes at site with choice of stuffing such as basil chicken, broccoli mince, vegetable ratatouille or you might let your taste buds indulge in a Tandoori kukkad, a Seekh Kabab and a Tandoori Paneer.
The broccoli offering is quite recommendable as are most of the Tandoori dishes in this buffet available at 750 bucks plus taxes. The Hot buffet section is yet another attraction. Lamb slivers in rosemary jus with a side of chateau potatoes may be chosen if you prefer the smoothness of the lamb to its sour taste. The Sole with sesame and orange ginger relish seafood paella also finds favour with those having a bias for fresh water fish. Vegetarians, on the other hand, can savour the Spinach, broccoli or split beans delicacies. Everything is fine but you would need to spend some time near the tandoor to choose the right and not over heated breads.
The salad counter offers great variety too. The Caesar salad with a side of Tuna, anchovies and roast chicken complements the food as does Pepper boursin with crusty bread dips or pepper antipasto. The Indian counter digs out dishes from the homes and the streets of Delhi. There is the Tahiri, which though tasty, lacks the spices of the real stuff and then there are the Murgh Dhania Korma and Dal Maa Choliyan and a host of other delicacies.
The variety is great and a Mexican Bonanza also awaits you. But you can't afford to miss beverages like the Neemani Sherbet. Others might choose something from the beer collage. Moving to the chaat counter however is not the most recommendable. But the biggest surprise is not the food. It's the free swim that the buffet allows the guest. No wonder, one doesn't care about the extra calories here.
