Eastward Ho!

IF THE words East and economic define your vacation plans, then Malaysia could be your destination this summer.

Tourism Malaysia, in association with Singapore Airlines and five major travel agencies of India, have introduced a summer package, Malaysian Summer Dhamaka.

Under the package a traveller would get to spend two nights each in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. With a price tag of Rs.23,999, the package includes airfares, accommodation with breakfast, "Seat in Coach" basis airport transfers, bus transfers between Penang and Kuala Lumpur and half day sightseeing at Kuala Lumpur and Penang, known as the Pearl of the Orient. For those who embark from Kolkata, the package will cost Rs.1000 less.

As add-on attractions, Malaysia is hosting the month long Water Festival in April while Kuala Lumpur is the venue for a weeklong KL Fashion Week in April followed by the Colours of Malaysia festival in May. Not to be left behind, the scenic beaches of Penang would attract the best during the international dragon boat festival.
