Nicole turns into android

AUSSIE BEAUTY Nicole Kidman pretends to be a robot to save her life in her new film The Stepford Wives. Nicole stars as American housewife Joanna Eberhart in a comedy remake of the 1975 sci-fi thriller. She plays a former career woman who quits her high-flying TV job after a nervous breakdown and leaves Manhattan to start a new life.

She arrives in the ultra-modern town of Stepford, Connecticut, with wimpy hubby Walter played by Matthew Broderick, only to find that most of the other girls there are a little too perfect.

Joanna gradually realises they are not real women at all. In fact, the town's wives have been killed by their men folk and replaced by robots. And to her horror, she discovers that Walter fancies having a mechanical missus too.
