Janaki is back

JANAKI VISWANATHAN, who shot into fame with the much-acclaimed Kutty, is back with her second movie, Kanavu Meyppada Vendum with Ramya Krishna playing Varalakshmi. Janaki says that in a man's life, three women play a prominent role — mother, wife and daughter. The bondage and the occasional conflicts that arise between these characters form part of the theme that lays emphasis on harmony among people.

Through this film, Janaki also brings the West Indian `Jaiv' dance form to the Indian screen. Ashim Sharma, Tanu Vidyardhi and veteran Malayalam actress Lakshmi Goplaswamy are in pivotal roles.

In Kutty, Janaki Viswanathan had portrayed the plight of a girl child who worked as a domestic help. The role won Baby Swetha a national award. Now, will it be Ramya Krishna's turn? By the way, Ramya marks her debut as a singer in the film, with Thalam Poove Vaada, tuned by the late music director Mahesh.
