Chords & Notes

Vismayathumbathu: East Coast: Rs. 50

FAZIL IS back with a bang. This time Fazil has teemed up with the actor Mohanlal for his supernatural thriller. The lyrics have been penned by Kaithapram and set to music by Ouseppachan. Konji Konji Vilikkunna Kattine Marrakkan sung by Yesudas realises the lyricist's dream of perfect melody.

Mizhikalkkinnenthu Velicham sung by Vijay Yesudas and Sujatha reminds you of a tune from music composer A. R. Rahman's score for Shyam Benegal's Hindi film, `Zubeidaa'. Even the background music hasn't been changed. The beats of the dholak too has been retained in this duet song.

Priyane is a different version of the first song, sung at a slower tempo on a different note. Sujatha does not seem to be usual self while crooning this track. Listen to the track Etho Kaliyarangin and you are bound to think it is K. S. Chitra who has rendered this song. Look for the singer's name and you'll come across Ganga's name. This singer has proved many wrong with her style for rendition. Fahad who joins her in the duet track of the same song, however, fails to impress listeners. Azhake sung by Yesudas is a repetition of a previous song, this time with different lyrics. It's one of those songs meant for a starry night.

The album `Vismayathumbathu' has its share of magical strokes and that should help it make to the top of the charts.

M. KRISHNAN
