All that glitters is not gold
IT HAS almost become a trend for political leaders to involve film stars in their election campaigns to gain votes.
It should be noted that the people do not need the recommendations of the glamorous stars to cast their votes. Voters of today are intelligent and do think before voting for a candidate. Film stars may succeed in wining the hearts of the people with their action in films but aren't good at fetching votes for any political party and may only help attract masses for political meetings.
Actors who are socially active and work for the welfare of the society may influence the voters but glamour never works.
It isn't impossible for actors to serve people through politics, but for that, any actor is expected to possess administrative skills and leadership qualities to lead the state.

It's been observed as a regular practise by film stars to join various political parties every election season. The actors do not just limit themselves to campaigning for the parties but also contest as MPs and MLAs. What is not understandable is the interest of the film actors, to serve people that crops up only during the time of elections and as to why only politics can provide them a platform to do their bit for the society and at this hectic a pace with a sudden rush. It is difficult to know if the stars are authentically interested to work for the society, the poor and the needy or if it is a mere attempt to add to their balances.
The voters are increasingly becoming conscious about their rights and responsibilities, and it may not really make a decisive influence on the people and their choice.
Voters are advised to take caution and avoid falling prey to the gimmicks of the politicians such as employing movie stars to impress them.

I don't think cinema actors fetch votes for political parties as the voters are well aware of the deeds and practises of politicians and their parties as an outcome of the sophistication of the media and its reach.
Keeping in view the recent disaster that killed the most promising actress of the film industry, I think, the parties too prefer to keep the campaigners at bay.
The film actors should also understand that it is a waste for them to campaign for the parties as their presence might attract crowds but not votes.
It is sad to know that the actors and actresses make use of the election period and campaign for parties only to earn name and fame but not with a motive.

Film stars,
Roaming in their A.C cars
Thinking of their co-stars,
Not caring for their fans club wars,
Participate in the election canvas wars,
May be for image or for fare,
Which on their part is not so fair.
People are not so unaware
Of their cinematic glare,
Seeing which the politicians think,
That the votes are on their side,
If those stars become their party's voters' guide,
In order to have a victory that which is landslide.
Voter is not a goat,
To caste his vote,
Looking at the stars image coat,
Even though the star is the party's candidate,
The result lies in the hands of the public, which is ultimate.

Political parties can lure voters by roping in stars of the silver screen toady, where issues that matter are down played and personality-centered campaigns thrive, I believe celebrities can make a real difference. Mass cinema and sports are opium of masses. During their campaign they make fashion statements and maybe headlines too if only the luck favours.
The big time examples from south India who fetched votes are C.N.Annadurai, M.Karunanidhi, M.G.Ramachandran, N.T.Rama Rao, Jaya Lalithaa, Rajni Kanth, and so on.
But for all this to happen, film stars need to present themselves as serious political entities, if not, the meetings would end up being exhibitions wherein the audience may include children and adolescents with no right to vote.

It is possible for the film stars to draw in votes for political parties.
Absorption of film stars into politics and their success in the same is not a recent issue, but it has become more of a heated debate these days as few constituencies are reserved for film personalities.
Cinema is a mass media where it draws attention of every individual, and because of these stars that are often active campaigners and it not quite tough a job for the movie stars to let things happen as they wish with the help of their fan-clubs and leadership to them is an art of handling situations tactfully.
It is not a story but history created by stars like NTR, MGR who succeeded with absolute majority in the house.
Though the voters do get carried away, they always tend to come back to understanding the reality and send the politicians-turned actors back to pavilion if they fail to satisfy them.
However, stars do entertain the public gatherings, regional orientations and even community organisations. They can draw the people for the party and the issue of film stars fetching votes for the parties cannot be pooh-poohed.

Film Actors these days are managing to put up live shows for the public through their entertaining campaign. Actors should act on the stage but they are acting in real life these days. Film actors may have fans who fetch them votes out of fascination but that's only for once.
A look into the past will clearly show that people did not vote for the film stars for the second time, except in one or two cases. With more and more film actors entering the poll scene in the contemporary politics, voters should be very careful while casting their votes.

Film actors can never make good politicians. People like film actors because of their acting prowess but politics is an altogether different field. Films are sources of entertainment and a few people will be gifted with the talent with which they can win-over the hearts of the people. In real life however, the situation is entirely different as the demands differ from individual to individual and section to section. Therefore it's not easy for the people from the film world to understand the ground realities and meet the demands of the people.

Film actors can definitely attract voters and fetch votes for the political parties. They can also make good politicians in the service of the people, as they understand the needs of different sections of society through the roles they play in films. There are several examples in our country where film actors excelled in public service. N.T.Rama Rao, for instance, entered politics leaving aside the stardom and he became popular because of his personality and the ideology he followed.

Film actors can fetch votes to the political parties and no wonder, even seasoned politicians are vying with one another to attract them into their parties for using the film glamour to attract voters. Several film stars have entered the politics in the past and many more are competing to join the field at present. Several cine stars have gone back to their field after having bitter experiences in politics.
People are not unwise to be mislead by film glamour. In the past a famous Telugu film actor who floated a party and came to power within a short period of 9 months was miserably defeated in the subsequent elections.
The motive behind politicians and the film stars in choosing politics is nothing but selfishness.
As was observed by a famous author - "politics is the last resort of a scoundrel". Knowing fully well the implications, film stars are entering the politics. The public also should understand the motives and respond properly.

"All that glitters is not gold". This saying is apt for the topic given. The political field consists of people from different professions and actors are one among them. But every actor cannot become a politician. They will not fetch votes until and unless they dedicate themselves to public service. N.T.Rama Rao, our former Chief Minister can be quoted as an example for this. Moreover political parties these days are using film actors in their campaign, but they will have to remember that the stars they project should also know their responsibilities.
Film stars can be elected provided they understand problems faced by the people. But if they feel that they can take the people for a ride, they will have to face the consequences

The influence of the film industry on politics these days is quite obvious. The people think the film stars whom they see on silver screen with the sorts of heroics they perform will be the same off the screen too.The fans associations which are coming up for each and every star speaks about their impact on the public life. The fans play a major role by organising social service camps in the name of their stars creating an illusion among the people that the stars, if elected, will brighten their lives. However, the vote collecting capacity depends on the success of the star.
The more reputed they are in the film industry the more votes they can gain. Starting from donation campaigns to election campaigns, a successful star can get whatever he/she desires. Their impact on the people is tremendous.
I feel voters should be able to visualize what really exists behind those charismatic faces and personalities before choosing them as their leaders.

As film stars enjoy a good image among the people, the politician or the political party for which they campaign is bound to attract great crowds which in turn fetches votes. That is the reason why political parties select film stars as their ambassadors. The selection will depend on the popularity of the star among the people and the fan following they have. Film stars' presence in campaigning influences people to a great extent, making them attend the rallies to have a glimpse of their star. When the voters attend, the film stars convince them to vote for their party. Film stars stand first among other celebrities like sports persons, models etc. in attracting voters. Particularly, they fetch votes to parties from the rural and under developed areas, as people in these areas have a blind love and affection for the stars. But in urban areas this is not the case as the people are more intelligent.

Yes, film actors fetch votes because of the popularity they enjoy among the people. With their communication abilities, film stars are able to convince the people to vote for a particular party during the elections. But how many actors are sincere in doing public service? The illiterate people living in villages have no idea about politics. So, they tend to get influenced by film stars and in the process fail to utilise their vote in electing a leader who is committed to work for them.

Freedom fighter never relied upon film actors to fetch votes for them as they were undauntedly recognised by their leadership qualities. Politics, in the present day scenario is more of a competition where in a politician would resort to any sort of practise to earn popularity for his party. Film actors are fetched to campaign for the parties, as they are better known among the people than the leaders themselves. The parties wouldn't need any actor or actress to campaign for them if only the party leaders interact with the people. Film stars and political parties benefit mutually as the actors too find it profitable by campaigning as it fetches popularity.
I believe that the people should understand their responsibility and vote for the party who would benefit them than the stars.

Indian politics and Indian politicians are very interesting and difficult to predict and manage unlike the developed countries due to various factors. This very different characteristic of Indian politics makes film actors fetch votes for the respective political parties.
Different political parties follow some basic funda in their selection and attract film stars as their party ambassadors.
Film stars are great crowd-pullers and have great number of fans and followers.
In general, Indian film stars fetch votes to parties particularly in rural and undeveloped areas, when compared with urban areas. The rural people blindly believe the promises made by the film stars out of their love for them.
Film stars' presence in campaigning influences people and make them attend the meetings, rallies, road shows to have a glimpse of their star. Once the people come to their meetings, the politicians and the film stars use different tactics to develop goodwill among voters and convince them to vote for their party. Thus fortunately or unfortunately film stars do fetch votes for the politicians in India.

Of late political parties appear to be convinced that film actors can fetch votes for them. Every party is hence roping in a few actors who are in the limelight and making them participate in the campaign. But why are these actors getting attracted to politics. Is it for money, ideals, or for encashing their star status? They only know.
Though it is a fact that these actors can fetch votes, they have their own limitations. The best they can do is to make a weak candidate win over another weak candidate of opposition that too in the rural areas where the people can be moved by the actor's charisma.
But can the best among the actors or actresses campaigning against strong politicians like Vajpayee, Sonia Gandhi, Advani, Chandrababu Naidu, Jayalalitha make them to lose the election? No! because their charisma will not work.
So dear politicians please raise yourself to the level that you won't require any external charisma or another face to fetch votes for you.

Nowadays it has become an exercise for most of the parties to bring film actors into politics for strengthening their respective parties.
The election advertisements of most of the parties also carry the pictures of film actors, portraying them as favouring a particular party. This creates confusion among the people in choosing an efficient representative.
The film actors may fetch votes on the basis of the heroic qualities they display in films. But the public representatives should be elected on specific virtues and their commitment towards the society.

While choosing the leader we have to take several factors like his capabilities, sincerity, zeal to work for the development etc. into consideration. People want those persons who work for the uplift of the poor.
They don't want glamour dolls. As far as I am concerned film actors enter politics only to mint money.
There are many ways to serve downtrodden, and the needy. Look at the Mega Star,Chiranjeevi, and his service to the poor by Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust. I think its difficult to answer whether film actors fetch votes.

Nowadays politicians themselves are great actors. Their words, behaviour, movements etc. every thing reflects the great acting talent in them. To make their actions more powerful, they use the film actors to support their campaign. In my opinion film stars campaigning does fetch votes to the political leaders. But the voters of the present day are more intelligent and they do not get carried away by the film actors.

I believe that film actors do fetch votes. We have seen film actors floating political parties and getting elected in some southern states. In the recently dissolved Parliament too, film actors occupied higher positions. That's why all the major political parties at the national level are vying to get film actors into their fold.
Film actors gather huge crowds during campaigning and contribute in wooing the voters to a large extent . People especially the middle class and the poor who comprise more than 50% of the Indian population are influenced by the films and show readiness to vote in favour of their stars.

I don't think that cinema actors can fetch votes. They may attract a large number of people at that particular moment of election campaigning.
But people won't change their minds on seeing an actor or actress campaigning for a particular party.
It is unfortunate that the political parties are trying to fool the people by using film actors as their election campaigners. I can say that actors are being paid.
The politicians are trying to mislead the people by projecting film stars in their campaign. But it will not serve the purpose for the political parties.

"World is a stage and we all are actors on it". Film actors can fetch votes due to their popularity. We can take `N.T.Rama Rao' the late chief minister of Andhra Pradesh as a best example.
Coming from the film industry Rama Rao whose party was elected to power took several steps that helped the poor.
It is not winning that should matter but working for the welfare of the people should be the primary duty of the politicians.
