Water woes

I WONDER if pampered urbanites like us realise how water we waste. We think nothing of flushing 20 or 25 litres of water every time we go to the bathroom. I have seen people not bothering to close a running tap even as water is wasted by the bucketful. Moreover, the so-called modern conveniences like the washing machine only add to this callous wastage. On one painful occasion, I saw someone operating an entire washing cycle just for three undergarments.

If only we take that little extra care, we could save a precious resource. Submerging a couple of water-filled bottles in the bathroom cistern will save that much water, for example.

In each of our actions, if we think just that little bit, we could go a long way in doing our bit to save water.
