The discerning eye for making every wee-bit beautiful and an aesthetic quest to decorate the environs of their house, Mahendra and Lakshmi made a mark, says Deepa Raparla

IT IS inevitable that a benchmark can never be laid for a trend so superlative and altering as `Beauty.'
Just as certain it is that beauty is not restricted to a place or a space, or as a matter of fact to many others, the desire to beautify is all that is needed at times to make things or a place look extraordinary.
Just grasping this is Mahendra Dev Suryadevara, the builder of Mahendra Enclave, who sited his edifice three miles off the bustling city pollution that has its own charm enveloped by the calm and serene environment. Ascending to the fifth floor and once again dwelling deep into the details of interiors of the abode of Mahendra and Laksmi with their two sons only showed their distinct approach altogether.
The shared atmosphere of the apartments, yet the individual spacing between the flats, were only piling the positives of communal lifestyle.
With two roofs joined to make one canopy to form one complete residence, one being a duplex while the other served as the large lounge unit including its bedrooms, is quite out of an ordinary design that shaped out beautifully.
Reflecting the intellect of Mahendra as a constructor, the glass-etched design of an alluring lady set out in the hall mirroring the engraved beauty escorted with the bright surrounding was riveting for any visitor.
The compact, yet well designed, kitchen, for the trouble-free usage, fitting numerous cabinets, pull-open drawers - all done in the Nuwood - once again depicts the couple's mixed tang for trimming.
The replica of glass painting, exposing the splendid grapevines on the windowpanes in apt colour combinations with the precise beam, gave the dwelling an enticing effect.
The well selected modern art decking the walls, as one climbs up the stairs was fascinating.
The elegantly carved wooden settee with metal embossing decorated the domain, while the wooden carving designed to embed the wall at the access way to every room, was fairly pleasant.
The lounge with its impeccable granite counters on one side, with the Nuwood cabinets beneath, decoratively touched by the traditional hand painted design, was rather innovative.
The glass mosaic pillars standing boldly in between, only added to intensify the splendour.
A room totally allocated for prayer, beautifully adorned with glass doors, all etched skilfully displaying a choice of deities, gave the entire house a divine touch.
"A longing to have a residence with a difference made me choose the fifth floor," grins Mahendra.
