MUSIC REMIXES... FUN OR FARCE

Old with a new touch

TO me, remixes are just old wine in a new bottle. It is only the background that changes. This does not make a song new or original. But one must realise that remixes are done more for fun.

The life of a song is in the lyrics. The beauty of a tune is modernised with more rhythm, instruments and technical improvements and improvisations to make it appeal to the youth.

Though I have sung some remixed versions, I personally prefer original compositions because they were composed for a particular situation and mood and rendered by unique voices. Remixes only have a new colour and more frills. Still, it's an increasingly popular trend, which as a singer I cannot ignore.
