Magnum force

MADHUR BHANDARKAR who had made "Chandni Bar" has moved away from the offbeat genre to make a commercial `masala' film "Aan — Men At Work." Bhandarkar's film is based on the bonding among four police officers of the Mumbai crime branch played by Akshay Kumar, Shatrugan Sinha, Suniel Shetty and Paresh Rawal, who take on the underworld-politician-real estate shark nexus, which rules Mumbai. "Aan" is not a typical multiplex movie and is aimed at the B stations such as Bihar where action films about good cops taking on the corrupt system rule the box-office. The heroines, Raveena Tandon, Lara Dutta and Preeti Jhangiani, are there merely for the songs tuned by Anu Malik. The baddies are played by Jackie Shroff, Irfan Khan, Om Puri and Rahul Dev.
