Brainwork on beauty

AYUR HERBALS recently held a one-day workshop at the India Habitat Centre. Designed as a capsule training programme for beauty professionals, the aim of the workshop was to create awareness in the beauty industry about traditional beauty and hair care therapies.

The colour specialist from Ayur gave tips on new trends in hair colouring and styling. Beauty professionals were led through the intricacies of make-up, hair care, nail art and the concept of Panchkarma.

Nails were painted, textured and even embedded with crystals. The Classic Red and French manicures were also discussed.

But the crowning glory of the day was undoubtedly Panchakarma. This Ayurvedic and therapeutic form of samsodhana chikitsa is used to provide cure and detoxification of the body. Panchkarma involves five detoxifying procedures: Vamana, Vasti, Masya, Vivechana and Raktamoshana. Coupled with Rasayana (rejuvenation therapy), it is claimed to provide a cure for migraine, spondylitis, paralysis and other ailments.

At the end of the workshop participants received certificates and discounts on Ayur products, and a peek at the range of Ayur beauty programmes and techniques available to upgrade their skills if required.
