For Father

DAD GAVE us piggyback rides, bandaged our pooh bear, stood by our side and gave good advice whenever we needed one. And every year on the third Sunday of June, to show our appreciation and love, we celebrate Father's Day. It is a day of commemoration and celebration of dad. Eventually, it is a day to honour not only your father but all men who have acted as a father figure in your life. Father's Day falls this Sunday. What new has Chennai chalked out?

Aditya Ramakrishnan, a 16-year-old, would like to surprise his dad by giving him a cake and a beautiful card early in the morning. He plans to gift him a cassette, as his father is an avid music lover. He cribs over the fact that his papa hardly has time for him and therefore he is looking forward to spending some quality time with him on Sunday.

"I will take an oath not to trouble him again for petty things," says Sidharth with a glint in his eye. This six-year-old intends to break his piggy bank and present his dad with a wristwatch.

Keshav Reddy, who came out with flying colours in theCBSE exams feels, "My result was the best gift I could ever give him."

In keeping with the changing tastes of today's consumers, card and gift companies like Archies claim to have come up with new designs and special gifts to take the worry out of choosing a gift for your father. The special gift line not just includes emotional writings but also utility items that your father would loathe to part with.

Naveen, a student, states, "I have decided to give him a card and may be a perfume."

Madhumita, just into college, says, "I plan to make dad a Father's Day meal which he won't forget. I will try to present it the way he likes. What else could I think of for the most cherished man in my life?" She also intends to play light music for him. Sindhu says this is a special day for her and probably a beautiful bouquet would be an ideal way to say, `Love you dad'.

"I will make a collage of his photos, decorate the house and surprise him with a party. That is the best way of conveying my love to him," says 10-year-old Ajith.

With so many ways to tell Dad you love him, go ahead and make Father's Day truly special.
