Shifting fortunes


HE ENTERED the arena as a cameraman, but providence had its own plans for him, and he had to move in front of the camera and aided with his flair for spontaneity and sharp wit, emerged as one of the most popular anchor of Telugu channels. That's Dasanna.

"I was doing camera work when producer G.K. Mohan noticed my talent and asked me to anchor. Thanks to him and Kiran garu of Gemini, I became an anchor with certain popularity," he says modestly.

Dasanna started with Nizam Babu Encounter, and featured in some of the highly rated shows such as Chudalani Undi and later Kalavalani Undi, where he interacted with a cross section of personalities including N. Chandrababu Naidu and Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy. One of his shows, which continue to be popular with audience is Navvula Nazrana.

In between, he was also seen in some films and is now keen for an opportunity to exhibit his acting prowess as a villain or a comedian. But what is his full name ? "My name is Srinivas and friends used to call me Vasu. I don't remember how it got altered from Vasu to Dasanna, but I became popular by that name," he smiles.
