What is the correct procedure to poach egg?

PLACE A flat bottom pan with water on the fire and bring to a boil and then reduce the flame to simmer. Add salt and white vinegar to the water and take an egg and place in lukewarm water for few minutes. Then break the egg over water and let it settle and cook for eight minutes and remove with a perforated ladle and serve over brown bread.
