Funky line-up

THIS YEAR'S June Rock Out has perhaps not lived up to its name for it has skipped June and settled for July. Never mind. For, the line-up of bands at Pepe Jeans JRO 2004 is as funky as ever. Twelve bands are to perform right through the month at the Unwind Center. Today, Red Rain from New Zealand, Bhayanak Maut from Mumbai and Garage Monsters Inc. from Chennai will rock the city.

Bhayanak Maut: Its music is an "eclectic mix of nu-metal, hardcore and death metal. The band believes in making original music as it lets the members explore their creative abilities as a unit." Today, the band will play from its seven-song album, "Hell is other people". The covers it will play includes System of a Down, Mudvayne, Ill Nino, Sepultura, Deftones, Hatebreed, Slipknot, Lamb of God and Poison the Well.

Garage Monsters: This band "is strongly influenced by bands such as Extreme, Van Halen, Megadeth, Deep Purple, Dream Theater, Whitesnake and Toto". Besides playing covers, it will play its own music as well.

Passes to the show are available at the venue (Unwind Center), Landmark, Pro Musicals, all Fruit Shops @ Greams Road, Gallopin' Gooseberry and Cool Club. For pre-booking, call 23740858/ 23740724 or e-mail info@unwindcenter.com
