Trendy change

IS THE sati-savitri image of women on television changing? Yes, seems to be the answer, as sindoor and mangalsutras are out of fashion these days. The unimpressive judas (buns) have given way to fashionable curls or short hair for that hip look. Sangeeta Ghosh, one of the most fashionable sati-savitri on screen, has been seen sporting off-shoulder or spaghetti strapped salwar kurtas in Desh Mein Nikila Hoga Chand. In Kahani Ghar Ghar ki, Parvati (played by Sakshi Talwar) now looks younger, having replaced her bun with curly hair. According to a leading scriptwriter: "The new look is given to women to enliven the serial and also to indicate changes that the character has undergone in her life". Now, the staid Manasi Joshi sports short kurtas in Kkusum to fit her `cool 40 plus mom' avatar.
