Music extravaganza
BHAGAVATARU, THE cultural group that has been organising unusual programmes in the field of theatre and music, has yet another interesting programme up its sleeve.
And all in aid of one of the most popular directors of the Department of Kannada and Culture, Y.K. Muddukrishna. This officer-singer, who also served in various other departments has retired, and a dawn-to-dawn mega music programme has been lined up in his honour. Apart from the musical treat, there is also yakshagana, painting workshop, and a photo exhibition.
The programme kicks off to a start with a vocal rendition by Pandit Shivananda Patil on July 10, 7 a.m..
At 8.30 a.m. is the Purandara Navarathnamalika by several musicians, to be followed by Dasavani by Puttur Narasimha Nayak. Subhadramma Mansur and Pandit Kumar Das will render vachanas at 10 a.m.. Before, lunch break is a session of folk songs. Post lunch will be rangageete by Kalpana Naganath and group; afterwhich is the sugama sangeeta and film song sessions.
The evening will have a series of ballets by Kathak Institute of Choreography and other reputed schools.
Pandit Rajshekar Mansur, Pandit Parameshwar Hegde, and a yakshagana recital by Perdur Mela will happen after 10 in the night. The concluding programme, at 6 a.m. on July 11 is by Krishnendra, a young and upcoming musician of Hubli.
So all you music lovers, just pack your bags and land up at Ravindra Kalakshetra on the morning of July 10.
Don't worry about food, there are plenty of stalls that will be open round the clock.
