FORGET THE drivel about the golden eras, Goldielocks, silver linings and silver spoons. Platinum has arrived.
OyzterBay has launched an exclusive collection of platinum jewellery, both plain and studded with diamonds, under the name Eternal Raindrops. The range has been christened thus to represent the attributes of timelessness and purity. In association with the Platinum Guild International, this collection brings more than 85 designs to the Indian woman at prices starting at Rs. 5,000.
Platinum is valued as much for its qualities as its rarity. Every year, 170 tonnes are produced, compared to over 2,500 tonnes of gold. It takes almost 10 tonnes of ore to produce just one ounce of platinum. In the purity normally used for jewellery 950 it loses very little metal by way of wear and tear, and is hypoallergenic. Its durability protects gemstone settings very well too.
Mr. Nangia, CEO, OyZterBay, says: "The modern Indian woman is set to appreciate the understated elegance of the unique moonlight grey of platinum, particularly in its fashionable matt finish, which contrasts sharply with the opulence of yellow gold."
Owning and wearing platinum is a unique and personal pleasure, preferred by discerning individuals who desire an exclusive style. As tastes become more sophisticated and the purpose of jewellery becomes beauty and not display, platinum seems to offer most of the answers.
