Doll show
|
No kidding, making dolls can be as exciting as any other art
|
WE MUST have all eyed them as kids, but would have never imagined the amount of creativity involved in making dolls.
Shashi Nayagam, as a child, would get excited watching her mother's friend make cloth dolls. Five years ago her interest in the art was rekindled and she took to making dolls.
The U.K.-based Shashi also started the `Friends of Cloth Dolls' on the Internet.
She took lessons from well known doll-makers in the U.S. when she attended the `We Folk Doll Conference' in 2002. One of Shashi's creations won the second place at the Enchanted Doll Artists Conference held recently in the U.S.
Shashi Nayagam is holding an exhibition of dolls today at the Amethyst, 14, Padmavathi Road, Jeypore Colony, Gopalapuram.
She is willing to teach the art free (except for the raw materials).
Those interested can meet her in person at the exhibition venue or mail her at shashi.nayagam@ ntlworld.com
